Sex Shops, Massage Parlors and Marijuana Dispensaries

Many cities around the South Bay are giving prospective tenants a really hard time when it comes to licensing and permits. As an example the City of Gardena has shot down 5 prospective tenants of mine. I own a commercial property on Crenshaw Blvd that is 3,900 sf with 14 parking spaces in the rear.
The City of Gardena shot down the idea a
  1. Mexican Restaurant because it was too close to a church.
  2. A thrift shop because it wasn't allowed in the plan of making Gardena more like Rodeo Drive
  3. A second hand furniture shop because it's considered a thrift shop
  4. A pawn shop because they are only allowed along the Eastern border
  5. A school because it's not in the plan
So basically I have had a vacant building for over a year and losing $4,000 a month. But the city doesn't care about the business owners and struggling property owners. It's about what they think is best for the city. Well, when I drive through Gardena all I see is drug dealers, prostitutes, trash on the streets, sex shops, massage parlors, delapitated buildings and a whole lot of vacancies. The city of Gardena along with many other South Bay cities have FAILED the people. They will soon face BK if they don't change their ways.
My building is still vacant and the only calls I get are from Sex Shops, Massage Parlors and Marijuana Dispensaries. GOOD JOB GARDENA.
YOU ARE NOT BEVERLY HILLS, when you get that in your heads you will start allowing businesses to move in. If a church is within 500 feet of a Mexican restaurant wanting to serve beer with their food it does not change anything considering most of the people going to church over there would probably appreciate an ice cold beer after Mass. Get a clue. Business friendly my @$$ !!!!!
